Story
In 1837 , Louis Vuitton, then 16 years old, decided to complete an apprenticeship as a trunk maker. This decision changed not only his life, but also that of his sons and subsequent generations. He worked for 17 years as a trunk maker for Monsieur Maréchal in Paris, until he opened his own workshop at 4, Rue Neuve-des-Capucines in 1854.
In 1859 he opened a second workshop in Asniéres, a suburb of Paris. The property there is not only the family home, but also the symbol of private and professional success. Until 1977 it was the only production facility. Today, around 170 employees work in Asniéres, responsible for the design and production of the bags . In 1930, Louis Vuitton's son, Georges Vuitton, designed the first travel bag. This was the birth of the Keepall .
Keepall
The Keepall is now Louis Vuitton 's most popular travel bag. This bag model was originally called Tien-tout, which translates as "holds everything". The Keepall is available in different sizes. Depending on the travel plans, the buyer can choose between sizes 45cm, 50cm, 55cm and 60cm. Nowadays, the Keepall is available in many more modern and colorful reinterpretations alongside the classic Monogram Canvas. It is considered the design template for the Speedy. The Keepall is particularly popular as a used bag ; its age means the bag tells its own story. And who knows, maybe you'll find an old plane ticket or vacation photos of the previous owner in the inside pocket.
Nope
In 1932 , Louis Vuitton presented one of its most famous bags: the Nóe . It was originally designed to transport champagne from A to B in a safe and more elegant way. The Nóe was originally designed for four upright and one upside down champagne bottles. Over the years, the popularity of this bag grew steadily, so much so that it was started to be produced in two different sizes. To this day, the Nóe Grande and the Nóe Petit are among Louis Vuitton 's most popular shoulder bags. Speedy
The Speedy was designed as a smaller version of George Vuitton's Keepall. It was launched shortly after the Nóe.
Unlike the large Keepall, which was designed for travel, the Speedy was designed for everyday use. However, the robust and therefore most important elements of travel luggage were retained so that this bag could also stand out from other bags due to its durability.
The original size of the Speedy was 30cm. George Vuitton believed this was the ideal size to offer women enough storage space for all their important everyday items. A few years later, at the request of Audrey Hepburn, a smaller version of the Speedy, the Speedy 25, was produced. Today, the Speedy is available in four different sizes (25cm, 30cm, 35cm & 40cm). The bag has been supplemented with various carrying straps and is available in many different colors and materials from Louis Vuitton and, of course, as a used bag from Glück&Glanz. The Speedy is the classic par excellence.
The classic version, however, is still made of coated monogram canvas and open cowhide, which after some time takes on the typical patina due to the natural environment and accompanies and of course inspires women for generations.
Alma
The Alma , which impresses with its simple elegance, was also introduced by Louis Vuitton in 1934. To this day, it is believed that it was originally designed for Coco Chanel personally. At first, the bag was named after the most famous shopping street in Paris, the "Champs Elysees". Gaston Louis Vuitton later renamed the bag "Alma". The rounded shape reminded him of a bridge of the same name that connects two parts of Paris. The Alma has a special charm as a used bag .
Clutch
The Pochette is a small evening bag. The Pochette, like most Louis Vuitton bags , is made of coated canvas. It is available in the classic monogram and checkerboard pattern. The evening bag has a removable leather strap that allows the bag to be carried over the shoulder.
